How a Trane Gas Furnace Works

A Trane gas furnace works by using natural gas as its fuel source. The furnace has a burner that ignites the gas and directs the flame through a heat exchanger. As the combustion process occurs in the heat exchanger, the air from your home is pulled in over the exchanger and heated up. The ductwork transfers the heat to the rest of the house.

The thermostat controls the furnace's operation, signaling the furnace to turn on if the temperature drops below the desired setting. Once the furnace receives the signal to turn on, the gas valve opens, and the burner ignites the gas. The heat exchanger then warms up, and the blower fan begins.

The blower fan pulls in cold air from the return duct and blows it over the heat exchanger. As the air goes over the heat exchanger, it is warmed up and then directed back into the home through the supply ducts. The warm air continues circulating through the house until the temperature reaches the thermostat setting.

In summary, a Trane gas furnace uses natural gas to heat up air through the combustion process in the heat exchanger. The blower fan directs that warmed air throughout the home through ductwork. The thermostat controls this process, which signals the furnace to turn on when the temperature drops below the desired setting.
